A1 vs Dandenong 3-17 Loss

Preliminary Final

A2 vs Frankston 13-3 Win

Dan Ward-Bourton reports

We’re going to Disney World!!!

The Magoos got it done in fine fashion riding out 13-3 winners to win what we have decided after much discussion is the first Chelt A2 flag in 15 or so years.

My Favourite Player(tm) took to the hill and was serviceable. Dishing up just enough of that junk to get away with things. Or a little too much junk if you were in the batters box. Aided hugely by Big Cat McKenna who caught his best game of the season behind the dish.

The offense was the star of the show though with 2 huge innings doing all the damage. Chelt came roaring out of the blocks and put up 5 runs and knocked the Frankston starter out of the game before even 2 outs had been recorded. This was especially impressive considering the same starter pitched a complete game shut out against us just 2 weeks ago to book them in this game. Line drives were being scorched all over the place early on, punctuated by a big Triple to Mack Turley. Chelt added another run off the reliever before the first inning was over and were in the drivers seat from there out.

Frankston hit back in the bottom of the dig with a 2 out 2RBI double in the gap.

In the bottom of the 3rd Chelt again opened the floodgates for another 6 runs. This time the highlight of the inning was a triple from Rhys Fairweather.

Frankston added another run on 4 consecutive singles in the final inning, but it was all over bar the shouting at that stage.

Lots of other highlights with the bat obviously judging by the score, I can’t recall most of them, but when you’re getting extra base hits from the 9 hole its safe to say your lineup is stacked. Pretty stoked that we were able to bring our A-Game to the big dance. Felt we were the best team in the comp and on this day, we showed why.

Huge thanks to all the players and a special mention to the 3s guys who sat on the bench in Dylan Hind, Josh Tribe & Craig Ballantyne. Along with Jack Ogilvie who stuck with us in finals to help coach bases and my ever present 2IC TC.

Congratulations to our A2’s for their Grand Final win against Frankston. The guys comfortably took the flag, winning 13 to 3.

Commiserations to the A1’s who went down 3 to 17, in their Preliminary Final against a big hitting Dandenong side.

Well done to Chris Anderton, Daniel Ward-Bourton, TC and all the guys for their hard work and achievements over the 2019 season.
