A1 vs Mornington 4-3 Win

Chris Anderton reports

Coming off the bye we welcomed Mornington to the rustler dome on a very brisk Saturday afternoon. To keep our chances of finishing in the top 2 we needed to bounce back after our last performance against a resurgent Mornington.

Max Barrett got the start and threw the cob webs out for 4 inn in an up and down but mostly impressive fashion. In the first 4 inn of the game both pitchers were dominating. Max headed out for the 5th inn still feeling good missed a couple of pitches (that I believe were strikes) surrendered a run Max handed the ball over to Brandon Stenthouse who threw the next 2 and a bit inns in complete dominance.

At the start of the 8th Brando handed the ball over to Jack Enciondo who impart continued our dominant pitching performance. Eventually our bats came a life with Stewie Mathieson being the standout this week with 3 hits (triple) all coming at the right time.

With the score 4-3 Jack struck the last batter out with the tying run on third and the game was done. This was not our best game with the bat (still managed 10 hits) but the most pleasing aspect was our pitching a complete team performance.

Stand outs: Stewie x3 hits, Declan x1 double and a walk, Alex x2 hits, Josh superb at short stop. The whole pitching staff With 3 games remaining before finals and yes we are back in finals for the first time in 3-4 years it is up to us to keep pushing ourselves for the desired out come. I believe we have the team to go all the way but as a group we have to keep believing and stay positive and play to our strengths. Exciting times are ahead so lets keep together and BELIEVE.
